- When you start your road test, make sure you are calm and attentive. Keep on going straight and do not make any right or left turn until the examiner asks you to do it.
- Fasten all your seat belts.
- Keep on driving attentively and do not try to talk with the examiner and make sure you understand the examiner’s instructions clearly.
- Keep on driving safely, effectively and smoothly. Follow the speed sign posted on the road. If there is no speed sign posted, then the speed limit will be 50 Km on the city streets and roads. Most commonly speed limit for the residential streets are 40 Km.
- Your observation is very important and critical during the road test. Check your mirrors every 5 to 8 seconds and when you are approaching at an intersection or railway crossing, make sure you check and look to your left, right and left again to make sure nobody is shooting through the intersection or breaking a red light.
- Make sure to keep a good following distance behind the vehicles in front of you. Try to avoid unnecessary lane changes. When you are approaching a stop sign or red light, make a full stop and do not make a rolling stop.
- Keep your both hands on the steering wheel and do not drive with one hand or never steer with your palm.
- Never accelerate through an intersection and be ready to stop if the light changes in to amber.
- Follow the traffic control devices like stop signs, traffic lights, pedestrian’s signal, yield sign, etc and be more careful when close to the school zones and school crossings.
- During the road test, drive in the right lane. Do not change the lane until the examiner ask you to do it or if the lane is blocked, ending or any breakdown vehicle is there. You may then change the lane automatically and after that you will have to come back into your initial lane.
- The use of the brakes and acceleration during the road test must be smooth, gradual and gentle.
- Be very careful for the pedestrians at the intersections especially when you are making turns.
- When you change the lane, make sure to check your mirror, signal to your intention and check your blind spot as the blind spot is the key of your life. Never ever change the lane without mirror, signal and blind spot check.
- If you make any mistake during your road test, do not be nervous, afraid and upset because the examiner only wants to make sure that you are a safe and defensive driver and will not fail you for minor mistake until you do any violation of the law or hit the curb or another vehicle.
- Do not ask for any help in a difficult situation. Use your own observation and skills. Try your best as much as you can do. The meaning of the road test is to make sure that you are very defensive, an observer driver and that you know the rules of the road and you are not danger to other road users or to the public.
